I am almost certain this is my friend Maia’s house in Alibag. Bizarre to find it on tumblr!

I also was not aware it was designed by Studio Mumbai Architects. I was first introduced to their work at an exhibit at the V&A in London two Summers ago. They had reconstructed the home of a slum dweller, modelled on dwellings directly behind their studio in Mumbai. Often these ad hoc “houses” make use of empty spaces in between two adjacent buildings or walls. Such unauthorised architecture constitutes over half of the city’s built landscape. It was both interesting and thought provoking.

All these connections - talk about a small world!
